PEC-G – General Information

The Exchange Program for Undergraduate Students (PEC-G) offers opportunities of higher education qualification to citizens of developing countries with which Brazil maintains educational and cultural agreements. Developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education in partnership with public (federal and state) and private universities, PEC-G selects foreign students who must be preferably between 18 and 23 years old and with complete secondary education to carry out undergraduate studies in Brazil.

The selected foreign students attend the undergraduate program, which is free of charge. On the other hand, they must meet some criteria, such as proving that they are able to cover their expenses in Brazil, having a secondary school diploma or an equivalent course and a certificate of proficiency in Portuguese.

The target audience is preferably people inserted in socioeconomic development programs agreed on between Brazil and their home countries. These agreements determine the students’ commitment to return to their countries upon completion of their studies and to contribute to the area they graduated in.
