ESOL – English for Speakers of Other Languages
Certificate of City & Guilds Pitman Qualifications, an international agency that offers exams for attestation of proficiency in English. They are accredited by universities and educational institutions from several countries. Available in six levels, they are valid for an indefinite period. The written exams are independent from the oral ones and correspond to the same six levels.

GMAT – Graduate Management Admission Test
It is necessary for candidates to have done an MBA in the United States. It measures qualification in the areas of mathematics and analytical and verbal writing. It is offered by the same institution that regulates the TOEFL and can be taken via computer.

IELTS – International English Language Testing System
Recognized by universities in Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand, the exam is also renowned in Canada and in the United States. It was developed by the University of Cambridge and it is managed by the British Council and by the IDP Australia Education. It attests proficiency in English for specific purposes. It includes writing, reading comprehension, listening comprehension and oral communication.

TOEFL – Test of English as a Foreign Language
It is required for entrance in more than 4,4 thousand schools, institutions and universities around the world, especially in the United States. It is also used by institutions in other countries in which English is the academic language. It measures competence in reading, listening comprehension, writing and mastery of the English language grammar. It can be accomplished via computer or in a printed version.
