ACCREDITATION OF GRADUATE PROGRAM DEGREES
The Federal University of Ceará, as a public higher education institution governed by the Ministry of Education, can evaluate graduate program degrees issued by foreign institutions with a view to rendering them officially valid in the Brazilian territory. The validation is based on the National Education Guidelines and Foundations Law (Law no. 9.394, published on December 20, 1996), which states the following:
Article 48: The degrees of accredited undergraduate programs, once registered, will have national validity as evidence of the studies accomplished by his/her holder.
Paragraph 3: Master’s and doctoral degrees issued by foreign universities can only be accredited by universities which have been duly appraised and accredited graduate programs in the same academic field, on an equivalent or higher level.
